エアノイズを強調した独自の音色を持つアルトサックスを軸に、無音・音・音楽のあいだを自在に往還する表現を追求し、時間や空間と融合する作品やパフォーマンスを国内外で発表している。
活動領域は音楽にとどまらず、絵画や写真など多様なメディアへと拡張し、領域を越えた創作を展開している。
2023年、CADENZA(by T-Toc Records)より1stアルバム「Silence」をリリースしメジャーデビュー。
近年の主な活動として、アクリル画の個展「カフェの絵」や、サウンドインスタレーション「カフェの音楽」を発表。
また、Alto Saxophone Solo Exhibitionとして「現時点を基準とした順行と逆行」「アルトサクソフォンのノイズと空間の音」「認知上の境界線」などを開催。
さらに、Christian Soleil 著「Masaki Hanawa, the other name for delicacy: biography」の刊行にあわせ、フランス国内での公演も実施し、国際的な活動の幅を広げている。

Centering his practice on the alto saxophone with a distinctive tone that emphasizes air-inflected noise, Masaki Hanawa explores an expressive realm that moves fluidly between silence, sound, and music, creating works and performances that merge seamlessly with time and space.
His creative approach extends beyond music into painting, photography, and other visual media, cultivating a multidisciplinary practice that transcends conventional boundaries.
In 2023, he made his major debut with the release of his first album "Silence" on CADENZA (by T-Toc Records).
Recent highlights include his solo exhibition of acrylic "Paintings for Café" and the accompanying sound installation "Music for Café".
As part of his Alto Saxophone Solo Exhibition series, he has presented concept-based performances such as "Progrades and retrogrades based on the present moment", "Noise of the Alto Saxophone and the Sound of Space", and "Boundaries in Perception".
Following the publication of Christian Soleil’s "Masaki Hanawa, the other name for delicacy: biography", Hanawa also performed across France, further expanding his international presence and continuing to develop a practice that interweaves sound, space, and perception.

Plaçant le saxophone alto au centre de sa pratique, avec un timbre singulier qui met en avant le souffle et le bruit de l’air, Masaki Hanawa explore un champ d’expression qui circule librement entre le silence, le son et la musique, créant des œuvres et des performances en parfaite fusion avec le temps et l’espace.
Son approche créative dépasse le cadre musical pour s’étendre à la peinture, à la photographie et à d’autres médiums visuels, développant une pratique pluridisciplinaire qui transcende les frontières conventionnelles.
